After a delayed flight of about 2 hours, we finally arrived
in Chengdu and took the airport shuttle bus close to where our hostel was
located. Our room at the hostel was very simple with a shared bathroom, but at
least it had air conditioning and the staff were really friendly. It was
evening so we made out way to the Tibetan District and had dinner at a small
Tibetan restaurant. Thyson ate yak meat with potatoes and I had potato
dumplings – really delicious! The restaurant staff didn’t speak any English and
we were quickly realizing that Sichuan Chinese is very different to the Beijing
Chinese that we have been learning – we couldn’t understand much at all!
